about
I wrote this song during the California prison hunger strikes in 2013. By the time the song was released, the strike broke. Prison isn't the answer for social justice. And solitary confinement is torture.
lyrics
thirty thousand prisoners
now dwindles down to an honest few
signatures signed but the straps have been tied
you'd never choose to be fed through a tube
rights revoked, among them the choice
to sacrifice yerself for those without a voice
twenty three hours locked in a cage
for ten fucking years and you call this humane
what do you call a country that tortures it's citizens
quotas set for arrests and incarceration
i call it a terrorist nation
what isn't wrong about an industry built on suffering
sixty seven percent make the same mistake
but nobody tries to reform the state
can't you see, the people they hurt are no different
than you or me
there are certainly people who only want to harm
some don't wind up in prison
but instead with a badge and a uniform
we are all accessories producing the same things we hate
fostering resentments built on differences between class
and race
it's just the physical embodiment of what you should fear
a civilized reminder that you can't interfere
Comme d'habitude, j'ai bien du mal à choisir une "favorite track" avec ce groupe de Trashgrass qui excelle dans son domaine.
Mais là, j'ai réussi à me décider finalement. XD EklektikTrip
